Azzurra first opened in May of 2000. The little blue restaurant tucked away in the corner of a plaza on First street, was the creation of Marie and Mark Damigiani. The restaurant was quick to become a hot spot for locals and tourists lucky enough to stumble upon them when seats were available. With Mark as the chef and Marie running the front of house the quality of food and service was always consistent. Andrea Greyerbiehl was a young woman who worked for them and they knew first hand that Andrea shared their passion and understood their vision for Azzurra. At 26 years old, with the support and encouragement from family and Mark and Marie and a little bit of synchronicity, Andrea purchased the restaurant in February 2003.
On December 15th, 2005 Andrea relocated the restaurant a couple of blocks south of the bustling highway to nestle into downtown. 100 Pine Street has been a perfect fit for Azzurra. The layout inside provides for intimate dinners and larger groups alike. There are quiet corners, fishbowl window seats and a casual bar area. The patio at Pine Street has been a wonderful way to enjoy late afternoon cocktails and dusk lit summer dinners. The food and service continue to be exceptional and there is always a familiar face to greet you.
Azzurra commits to staying fresh and current, growing with the community and the times. After 19 years of business, Azzurra has grown solid roots in Collingwood, a tourist destination town with a food community that continues to grow and thrive.
People continue to gravitate to the beautiful Georgian Bay area, whether it be to play on weekends or settle permanently. Azzurra look forward to many more years of putting forth their best efforts to be one of the great places to eat in Collingwood.
